About Lewis Beck
Support from Todd Terry, Harry "Choo Choo" Romero & DJ E-Clyps

How would you describe your music style, in non-technical terms?

I have a diverse range of musical styles. I make everything from bass driven deep house to industrial techno to more experimental electronic music. In my DJ sets, I tend to play underground house and techno and I like to blend groove with melody.

How and why did you decide to become a DJ?

Passion. Nothing less, nothing more. I want to give people a unique musical experience that expresses who I am as a musician and a person.

What are your top 3 influences? Doesn't have to musical.

Difficult question to answer... it kind of changes every day. However, at the moment, I'd say Harry Romero, Todd Terry, and Metodi Hristov.

Harry has given me some really awesome advice over the years and also sold me his Moog Voyager... I owe a lot of my sound to him.

Todd has been really cool to me ever since I started releasing on his label and he's the definition of an OG. He's been around the scene for so long and he just gets it in a way that most other people don't. He knows why people want to get up and dance and he's a master at making them do it.

Metodi is an up and comer from Bulgaria, but his tunes are really enigmatic for underground dance music. The grooves he makes are absolutely stunning - really simple, but irresistibly infectious. His tracks have been my secret weapons lately.

Any guilty pleasure(s)?

Remixes of Lana Del Ray songs.

All-time favorite track(s)?

The End, by The Doors.

What is your favorite festival, why?

Movement in Detroit. The passion people have there is far beyond anything I've ever experienced at any other festival. After all, it's the birthplace of techno.

Funniest/weirdest thing that ever happened during a gig?

Someone handed my a napkin that had written on it" Request, Slow Sex Dance Music".
