About \/\/arhov
\/\/arhov is an eccentric DJ/Producer from Harlem, New York that brings the sounds and influences of Electronic Music to any venue.

Currently playing in some of the premier venues in New York City - such as the Knitting Factory, Webster Hall, Space Ibiza NY, and Cielo - \/\/arhov has established a diverse following that has enhanced his creative expression through the BPM's and subset genre's of Electronic Dance Music.

Half of the producing duo FUNKTION, former hip-hop DJ and son to a salsa musician, \/\/arhov uses his artistic genealogy to make his sound unique and each set a new experience helping you briefly escape reality while walking you through his gallery of electronic music.

How would you describe your music style, in non-technical terms?

I would imagine my music style being a story. Each set tells story and it develops. It has main characters, songs you love & sing a long to, and a lot of other characters that without them the story cannot move along.

How and why did you decide to become a DJ?

I picked it up as a way to relax and decompress. Just play songs I liked, or songs that brought back great memories and experiences. With time, practice and having people hear me playing around I was told I could actually be a DJ. Now I get to help people decompress and escape their realities for a few hours.

Tell us a bit about your fans.

My fans begin with my core support of friends that started seeing me play at home, to my first event ever to now playing in some of the premier venues in NYC. The rest of my fans are people who have complimented me over a set and I always ask to exchange social media information with them because I like to be engaged with people who enjoy the work I put into the art.

What are your top 3 influences? Doesn't have to musical.

Kaskade. Above & Beyond. Lane 8. No particular order.

Any guilty pleasure(s)?

I love, love, love, love, love Dallas BBQ's. I know its a chain. I know there are better BBQ rib spots out there, but I don't know what it is about Dallas BBQ's that I love.

All-time favorite track(s)?

Rufus du Sol - Innerbloom, Above & Beyond - Thing Called Love, Otto Knows - Voices, Kaskade - Atmosphere & Sebastian Ingrosso - Reload (Vocal Edit), Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon

What is your favorite festival, why?

Currently Electric Zoo. First, because I do not have to travel anywhere and secondly, they do not overbook themselves with headliners. They have a balanced lineup of up-and-comers, headliners & veterans which is great because a lot of festivals over saturate themselves with headliners.

Funniest/weirdest thing that ever happened during a gig?

Nothing worth noting, but I will keep you posted :)

What advice do you have for someone looking to book a DJ? Other than "book me!" ;)

Don't look at the numbers. The numbers are good, but they can be misleading. I know many DJ's, and have myself booked DJ's based off Soundcloud or Facebook numbers and end up not liking their sets. Take your time, listen to the music & make a decision based off that. Shoot, even look at their social media and see if they're personable. Having a DJ that looks miserable during your party is not a good look. The person trying to prove themselves will always put in the work.

Anything else you'd like to share (optional)?

Yes, I love taco's. Sometimes I'll even take taco's as payment. Taco's > everything else.
